Book Vending Machine Unveiling

Drum roll …

Adrian Goulet and his son, Albert Goulet of Mahegun Tails Inc. joined Miskanawah in celebrating the unveiling of a cultural book vending machine, acknowledging this exciting and impactful initiative with song.

Miskanawah was gifted the book vending machine through Nitsanak Mamawintowak's partnership with Brainworx! by Start2Finish, First Book Canada, and TD Canada Trust.

The Start2Finish Indigenous Literacy Enhancement Project is providing four vending machines filled with culturally relevant books to schools and community partners serving Indigenous youth across Canada. Miskanawah and three other partners in Ontario, will be given 250 books per quarter for 2 years. It is their hope that this project will help support literacy and student achievement in Indigenous communities through the power of storytelling. By putting culturally relevant books in children's homes, the goal is to support holistic learning devoted to interconnectedness, resilience, and physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual growth.
