Registration now open for Spring 2024! An ongoing opportunity, the Allying with Indigenous Peoples Cultural Solutions Training is led by esteemed Blackfoot Elders, Dr. Reg and Rose Crowshoe. Over the course of three days, participants gain a deepened understanding and personal experience on Indigenous history and perspectives through the lens of various traditional teachings and protocols. In circle, we then reflect on how these relate to the delivery of human services with Indigenous service users.

Marking its third annual occurrence, Alberta Recreation and Parks Association (ARPA) has collaborated with a group of Elders called the Elders Knowledge Circle Society (EKCS) to organize the Treaty 7 Elders Camp and Cultural Celebration.

Elders Knowledge Circle

The Elders Knowledge Circle Society (EKCS) preserves, protects, revitalizes, and shares wisdom from Indigenous Elders. Initiated and led by a group of Elders, the Knowledge Circle plays a key role in the preservation of Indigenous culture, enhancing the capacity of our community’s Elders, and strengthening relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous groups. On March 8th, Mahegun Tails Inc. was formally welcomed as Helper to the Elders Knowledge Circle.

CBE Canoe Acknowledgement

Adrian Goulet is a graduate of the former Plains Indian Cultural Survival School (PICSS).

The Calgary Board of Education acknowledges the story of two canoes that were created with the hearts and hands of CBE students. The canoes were crafted three generations apart with the same intentions: to provide students the opportunity to connect with traditional Indigenous teachings through hands-on, experiential learning.

Taking place in beautiful Kananaskis Country, this event was held in collaboration with the Alberta Recreation and Parks Association (ARPA), Trellis, Miskanawah, and Mahegun Tails Inc. Guided by the Elders, this gathering was called with the intention to share and organize knowledge, honour inter-nation traditions, and to teach the younger generation of Elders.
