CBE Canoe Acknowledgement

Adrian Goulet is a graduate of the former Plains Indian Cultural Survival School (PICSS). This unique high school was in operation from 1976-2002 and was one of the first of its kind in Canada.

The Calgary Board of Education acknowledges the story of two canoes that were created with the hearts and hands of CBE students. The canoes were built three generations apart with the same intentions: to provide students the opportunity to connect with traditional Indigenous teachings through hands-on, experiential learning.

In the following video, Adrian commemorates this special event with an honour song. He goes on to speak about his experience as a student, working with his teachers and peers to help build this beautiful cedar strip canoe.
